Miss Universe 2023
Sheynnis Palacios, representing Nicaragua, secured the title of Miss Universe 2023 during the grand finale held on Saturday night in San Salvador, El Salvador. Anntonia Porsild from Thailand earned the position of the first runner-up.
A total of 84 countries participated in this year’s Miss Universe competition, with contestants from around the world vying for the prestigious title. The judging panel featured prominent figures such as model Halima Aden, “Queer Eye” star Carson Kressley, TikTok influencer Avani Gregg, and two former Miss Universe winners—Janelle Commissiong of Trinidad & Tobago (Miss Universe 1977) and Iris Mittenaere of France (Miss Universe 2016).
The evening unfolded with a vibrant display of national costumes, showcasing the diverse cultures and traditions of the contestants. The preliminary competition results, combined with a global fan vote, determined the top twenty semi-finalists. Following the swimsuit round, the field was further narrowed down to ten finalists, unfortunately marking the elimination of the first “curvy” contestant to reach the semi-finals, Miss Nepal, and the first contestant to choose a burkini as their swimsuit, Miss Pakistan. The evening gown round ultimately reduced the number of contestants by half once again
